post Flickr Plugin for WordPress

June 11th, 2008

This is the craziest coolest fluckn Flickr plugin for WordPress I’ve seen to date. If you have a Flickr account and you have a personal website, then what are you waiting for?!? Join the two!

The installation intimidated me at first, but don’t do like me and NOT READ the goddamn instructions for customization inside your WP layout and then curse at you keyboard and screen for not knowing what they are doing! <<stupid keyboard and screen… I’m still sore at you…>> Just breathe, relax and head back to tan tan noodles, scroll down and read like an edumacated being.

When the plugin is activate and you’ve followed the initial instructions between Flickr and WordPress to activate the Flickr API, yadda yadda, you might notice that when you go to your “gallery” page that the layout components in your Main Index Template (index.php) file aren’t kicking in (or page.php or single.php… whichever it is you have as default for this sort of thing).

  • You’ll need to look in the plugin’s folder for a /templates folder.
  • In here you’ll find the photoalbum-index.php.
  • This is the file you need to edit to match whatever you have constructing the body of you main WP layout.

If you like getting all wild and crazy with code and are nit-picky about the way EVERY thing looks, then you may need to alter other files. So far this one file did it for me and it looks AMAZING!
