Chrome OS is just another rebranded Linux GUI, it would be much better if Google came up with an OS that would directly compete with Windows.

Hmm… no PDF viewer is quite a limitation actually. I hope the alpha version rectifies some of the capacity, robustness and performance issues. I’m still really looking forward to this replacing ANY netbook in my future. There just so much I really REALLY don’t enjoy about having Vista or (god forbid) Windows SEVEN on a netbook… just so pointless for netbooks, unnecessarily demanding performance-wise, and frighteningly unstable. If I could remove Windows from my life completely with an option that is still user-friendly (sorry linux) from an administrative standpoint–then I’m all ready for it!

I have installed Chrome OS on one of my netbooks and the performance of Chrome OS is just okay. there is nothing fancy or very special about it. It was just a sort of GUI version of linux or something.

While I like this quite a bit, I do have a few concerns about it. Primarily, I don’t always have internet but there are things I would definitely like to keep doing. A PDF viewer so that I can open up and read my large collection of Mutants & Masterminds PDFs would be nice as would some sort of text editor so I can type out my notes. Finally, I worry about how robust the actual file system will be. I have a lot of files (PDF, Music, Word, etc) that I would like to have local backups of and keep sorted. I used to figure all file systems were the same but moving to Mac has shown me that this is not the case.
