Comprehensive Darkhawk Timeline
February 3rd, 2009
This page is being continued at my new Darkhawk Zone fansite:: http://www.darkhawkzone.com
Just to start of, I’d like to say that the below is not an ABSOLUTE timeline! There is no way to document an actual timeline in most commercial comics from entire “universes” like Marvel’s and DC’s.
Continuity issues will always exist especially in cases like Darkhawk who appeared in the pages of other comics during his run in the early 1990s: The New Warriors, West Coast Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, Secret Defenders, Sleepwalker to name the prominent ones. These other titles had their own agendas and didn’t always take into consideration Darkhawk’s personal delemas, life-threatening quests of self-discovery and painful tribulations.
During a self-proclaimed journey to achieve “uber-fanboy guru” status with all things Darkhawk, I took it upon myself to read every issue of Darkhawk again, and every appearance as well, and track as best as possible, a theoretical timeline of all events directly tied to Darkhawk’s growth as an individual. My purpose for this is to come to a conclusion about what age Chris Powell would–again, theoretically–be when he appears in Nova #17 as the Cheif of Security of P.E.G.A.S.U.S., a program and facility put into place as a defense platform for alien threats.
The way I determined certain dates are based on character references to “yesterday”, “last week”, “Sunday”, “three months ago”, etc that come up as a designator of time. Any time it said “evening”, “morning”, night” or showed a time on a watch or clock in a panel, I would designate a section of the actual day as well. Months came into the picture a little more clearly when Darkhawk appeared in Sleepwalker #17 when his radio star “boss” mentioned it “being summer”. During the origin story issues of Darkhawk (#21-#25), there was a side plot that had him dealing with possible suspension from school. This was the first major continuity glitch I had to work out the best way I could by padding with enormous time gaps.
For the most part, all these events make a certain kind of linear sense and I present it here for the uber-geeks out there with any interest to ponder how immensely complicated a teenage superhero’s life can get. How do they find the time for girlfriends, family, school and other “life” responsibilities? Well, in Darkhawk’s case, as can be seen, it’s very well near impossible… and that has ramifications that define his life and his personality–that makes him different and special to me. He is a hero with a constant stream of flaws and hindrances in his human life, but he doesn’t stop reaching for what he wants to believe is the RIGHT thing regardless of how his life is affected.
This is a project spawned in the irrationally driven obsessive determination to explore a curiosity. Enjoy!
[This will be updated weekly until I am through every book.]
Timeline
3 Years Before Darkhawk [Darkhawk #1] – Amusement Park in Queens, New York closes down.
JANUARY
2 Months Before Darkhawk [Darkhawk #7] – Chris starts dating Cheryl.
MARCH
3 Weeks Before Darkhawk [Darkhawk #7] – Mike Powell in pursuit of thieves despite an older lady being side-swiped by the chase. He leaves his a partner to tend to the lady while continuing the pursuits.
2 Day Before Darkhawk (DBD), Friday Evening – Bazin’s goons try to get information about a powerful artefact that’s likely hidden in the park from a homeless man names Saint Johnny. Saint Johnny gives no helpful info.
1 DBD, Saturday Morning – Grace Powell gets bribed to lay off the Bazin cases and refuses.
1 DBD Saturday Evening – Mike Powell gets home late and during dinner he says he’ll take the twins to Wonderland if he doesn’t have overtime.
Dawn of the Darkhawk (DOD), Sunday Afternoon – Mike and Grace work overtime, Chris is suppose to take care of twins but goes out for some sodas with friends. Gets back late and twins have left for Wonderland.
APRIL
DOD Sunday Evening [Darkhawk #15, flashback] – Mike meets with Harry Lennox to cover for his disappearance after his last meeting with the Bazin goons that are coming to offer his next payoff. Lennox then becomes Grace’s private detective and keeps her in the dark.
DOD Sunday Evening – Chris asks Saint Johnny for direction of twins, Saint Johnny directs him to the funhouse aware that the Darkhawk amulet is there. After finding the boys, they stumble on a shady deal going down with Bazin goons and their father. They interfere, Mike gets put unconscious, boys flee, the twins hide, Chris finds the amulet and becomes “Edge-man”.
1 Day After Darkhawk (DAD), Monday Evening – Chris returns to Wonderland as the demo crew is on the site. Funhouse is levelled so Chris can’t find out more about the amulet. Saint Johnny whispers from the darkness, “Powers got to be used – not abused… by a Darkhawk.”
3 DAD Wednesday Evening – Grace gets a Bazin goon phone threat. Chris commits to using the amulet for good. Bazin tips off the Hobgoblin as to the possible location of the powerful artefact they seek.
14 DAD Sunday Day [Darkhawk #2] – Darkhawk crashes into Bazin’s office and threatens him to lay off [Bazin mentions his goons having dealt with Darkhawk “yesterday” which might have been a continuity issue—but—Bazin also called him by “Hawk” which means he’s been chasing Bazin goons for a couple days now since the first Bazin goons would have known him as “Edge-Man”. In issue #5 there is a mention that “several weeks” have passed since Chris became Darkhawk; I have given Darkhawk one week and four days so that the first time we see him in high school it’s a Monday]. News chopper gets Darkhawk in action for the news.
14 DAD Sunday Evening – Hobgoblin is on the lead for where the amulet may be: Wonderland. Spider-Man is on his tail. Darkhawk joins the fight to help Spider-Man.
15 DAD Monday Morning [Darkhawk #3] – Darkhawk tests his new powers and explodes his car at an abandoned car was that used to be a drug front a few days earlier (Although Chris suggests he’s gotten practice, this contradicts with Spider-Man not being able to track him since last they met, creating the assumption that Chris hasn’t used the amulet until now). Cops come on scene and send Chris home. An hour later he is making breakfast and lunches for twins as mom rushes off to work.
15 DAD Monday Morning – Chris gets irrationally angry at friends and girlfriend.
15 DAD Monday Afternoon – Chris over-hears kids talking about a Bazin deal going down in the evening.
15 DAD Monday Evening – Darkhawk crashes a Bazin weapon’s deal, Hobgoblin comes on the scene, Spider-Man follows a spider-tracer on the Darkhawk armor. (For some reason Spider-Man did not detect it this morning at the car wash? Meh.)
15 DAD Monday Night – Bazin convinces Hobgoblin Darkhawk is just a battlesuit hero and does not possess the power of the artefact. Hobgoblin believes him.
16 DAD Tuesday Morning – Chris gets a call warning him to give up the amulet before he regrets it and to “Beware the Curse of the Darkhawk.”
19 DAD, Friday Day [Darkhawk #4] – Savage Steel dons his armor [Daily Bugle front page headline suggest it’s possibly the morning paper covering the Hobgoblin/Spider-Man events. Due to a later issues continuity requirements, I went ahead and added a few days buffer thus allowing me to pad the time between issue 3 and 4 to coincide with events in issue 5]. Darkhawk breaks into Ryker’s Island Prison to confront Louis McPhee, the Bazin goon who lead the money payoff of Mike Powell to convince Grace to drop the Bazin case as well as pay off the crew of the Lilliput (a small airplane delivering cocaine).
19 DAD, Friday Evening – Chris receives another warning to “Beware the Curse of the Darkhawk” and to give it up while he still can. He goes to the Copper Lantern, an off-hours cop hangout, to dig up more info on his missing dad. There are cops who take both sides on the matter of Mike being corrupt.
19 DAD, Friday Night – Chris finds out that the Lilliput is a plane smuggling in three million dollars of cocaine. He gets intercepted by Savage Steel. Their fight makes the drug gang pack up and head out. Savage Steel chases fleeing van and causes it to get in an accident and explode.
19 DAD, Friday Night [Darkhawk #5] – Chris takes off the Darkhawk helmet and is frightened and angry at what he sees. He rages and breaks everything in his room until he puts it back on and calms down. Leaving his house he notices a man in a car parked in front of his home (with the man who Bazin has sent to assassinate Grace). Chris heads into the abandoned amusement park to get answers from Saint Johnny.
20 DAD Saturday Afternoon – Grace takes the twins and Chris to Manhattan’s Museum of Natural History for the day (I’m going to assume this is not a school day or work day so I modified the Timeline to account for this event ending up a Sunday). Bazin’s assassin has come to kill Grace, Chris blocks him and gets shot in the leg. Portal shows up and fights Darkhawk for the first time thinking he is an old enemy from another multiverse.
20 DAD Saturday Day – Chris awakens in the hospital to a treated wounded leg after turning back into Chris to discover he does not get automatically healed like Darkhawk does. Portal is also brought in for treatment but secured by guardsmen who will eventually take him to the Vault, the super-villain prison.

Darkhawk Annual #1, Multiple Shorts
21 DAD Sunday Day, [Darkhawk Annual #1, “The Fishing Trip”] – Chris goes fishing with the guys and leaves alone to test his new Darkhawk powers. [Note: This short has a couple continuity issues that throw off the placement of this event. Ideally this trip would have happened during the gap between issue #1 and #2 as it’s about Chris experimenting with the suit… but… he already seems to be aware of his “telescopic vision”, something he finds out about in issue #4; when he gets cut by the bear, he switches forms, fully aware it’ll heal him, but wouldn’t work the other way around—something he learns in issue #5; in the last panel Chris mentions the “horrific face” which happens at the end of issue #4 and beginning of issue #5; he seems to also be aware that “he really doesn’t need to breathe” when he’s under water—something he discovers against Vapor in issue #6. The problem fully lies in the fact that he still has long hair which means it happened—theoretically—before issue #6 where he cuts it; he mentiones “Tony Stark helping him” find out more but he doesn’t meet Ironman until months after cutting his hair, and even then he doesn’t get told that Ironman is Tony Stark and this is not public knowledge yet… we’re still a couple years away from Civil War . I’ve decided to ignore that bit of info and this is the best place I could fit it in seeing as the next day Chris and his family can go to the museum to continue his “time off” from being Darkhawk.]
- – = = * = = – -
22 DAD Monday Night – Police stand watch outside the Powell home. Darkhawk commits to tracking down Bazin once and for all.

[Note: Spider-Man asks Moon Knight if he’s seen “today’s Daily Bugle” which means this event came after the previous day’s events. This event is included to anchor the “two weeks later” reference that continues this Spider-Man story arc.]

New Warriors #14 Appearance
* 25 DAD Thursday Evening [New Warriors #14] – Darkhawk patrols Statin Island and encounters Namorita and Speedball. He thinks they are the bad guys causing trouble on the docks. Namorita goes after the boat while Speedball and Darkhawk call the cops to take care of the thieves on the docks.
* 25 DAD Thursday Night [New Warriors #14] – Namorita gets beaten to a pulp by Sea Urchin. Police choppers find her body floating on the water and bring her to Namor to bring back to health. - – = = * = = – -
28 DAD Sunday Day – Chris goes to the hospital to visit with Portal to get more answers. Portal uses the chaos to slip out of hospital and flee through one of his portals

37 DAD Tuesday Day – Grace meets Lennox, the private eye looking into Mike’s disappearance who seems to be covering something up.
37 DAD Tuesday Evening [Darkhawk #9] – Chris and Cheryl visit Headset in the hospital. They go to the mall and run into a shoot-out between Punisher and Savage Steel and gets his hand blown off. Darkhawk gets involved. Grace meets up with Lennox again about Mike’s disappearance. Darkhawk swaps bodies and is whole again. Fight comes to a stalemate when cops arrive and each goes their own way. Lennox meets Mike Powell in the dinner and it’s now evident there’s a cover up happening.

Round Robin: Sidekick’s Revenge 6-Part Story Arc in Amazing Spider-Man
** 38 DAD Wednesday Day [Amazing Spider-Man #354] – Secret Empire tracks down Nova and lets Midnight talk him into joining their group despite what the news says about it. Nova plays along in order to infiltrate the headquarters but Spider-man comes to the “rescue” and disrupts the plan. Night Thrasher than ties Spider-Man up, Midnight neutralizes Nova and takes him to the Secret Empire headquarters anyways. [Note: Nova enters the scene “two weeks later” than the call Spider-Man places to Moon Knight from Avengers headquarters mentioned earlier. This conveniently places it just after Nova gets his costume back from Night Thrasher in New Warriors #14.]
** 38 DAD Wednesday Evening [Amazing Spider-Man #355 and #356] – Midnight gets new upgrades after returning to the Secret Empire’s headquarters. Nurse Lynn Church turns out to be someone with intimidation leverage and demands a scientist put a device in Midnights vertebrae to neutralize the pain inducer system that keeps him in check by the Secret Empire. Night Thrasher, Moon Knight and Spider-Man try to rescue Nova. Midnight takes control of the Secret Empire by killing Number 7. The Secret Empire gets away from their Manhattan headquarters. Punisher sneaks aboard their escape ship.
** 38 DAD Wednesday Night [Amazing Spider-Man #357 and #358] – Spider-Man and all his allies join together in a final assault of the Queen’s branch of the Secret Empire. Darkhawk spots Moon Knight’s plan and follows it to the action. Midnight and Lynn Church finish themselves off during a power struggle that brought the entire facility down on them. [Darkhawk and Punisher together can assume this team-up happens after Punisher’s appearance in Darkhawk #9.]
- – = = * = = – -
*39 DAD Thursday Day [Darkhawk #10] – Tombstone is searching for Darkhawk because he wants the amulet. [Note: Seeing that Chris, nor the twins, nor Cheryl bring up school—and the fact that this issue IS a December issue—it could be likely that they are on Xmas break. Doesn’t explain no mention of Xmas, but I’m going to let that pass for now! It also lines up Chris and Cheryl dating 3 months ago to be the start of this high school year… HUZZAH!]
40 DAD Friday Day – Grace Powell has managed to arrest Phillipe Bazin on multiple charges and has a key star witness. [Gave a couple days between arrest and court case… which is likely to actually take weeks, not days for a case of this magnitude… but… must go onward!]
42 DAD Sunday Morning – Grace works on opening statements for the jury. Jason goes to warm up her car and it explodes. Jason is taken to the hospital. Bazin has paid the 1400 Club (the group that took out the original Hobgoblin, run by Ned Leeds) to take out “The Rat” Malone, the star witness. Darkhawk defeats the 4 armored hitman, but Malone dies of a heart attack.
48 DAD Thursday Morning – Grace is in court taking down Bazin. Chris leaves for a breathe of fresh air and runs into his father in the courthouse hallway. He tries to chase him but is stopped the the private eye, Lennox. Grace comes out and neither tell her the truth in order for her to be at her best performance in the courtroom. Darkhawk leaves to find answers from Saint Johnny, but Tombstone is already there and has incapacitated Saint Johnny.
48 DAD Thursday Morning – Tombstone and Darkhawk battle. Tombstone almost gets amulet out of Darkhawk’s chest but Darkhawk gets saved by a mysterious man who was the previous Darkhawk. A man in the hospital pretends to be an orderly and kill Jason; Mike Powell stops the assault and disappears again leaving Jon with the memory of seeing him alive. Grace begins to become over-whelmed in the courtroom and loose control. Tombstone managed to get Darkhawk’s amulet from his chest.
48 DAD Thursday Day [Darkhawk #12] – Saint Johnny saves Darkhawk from Tombstone and patches him up. Saint Johnny also holds back secrets and acts as if he doesn’t know about his arm turning into a ray blaster, or any thing about Chris and Darkhawk. Chris can not switch back. Darkhawk stumbles back home to get some clothing to cover his body up. Darkhawk passes out.
48 DAD Thursday Evening – Grace discovers him in the house and he crashes out his bedroom window. Chris as the covered up Darkhawk spends the night at the hospital with the twins.
49 DAD Friday Morning – The trial to convict Bazin continues. His own son takes the stand, black mailed by Allegra, to convict his father of multiple murders. Darkhawk had fallen asleep at the hospital and takes off just in time to encounter Savage Steel crashing through courthouse to kill Bazin. It ends up being Lennox who was taken down faster than the previous times. Bazin makes an escape by chopper as Mike Powell resurfaces and disappears with the chopper.
50 DAD Saturday Morning [Darkhawk #13] – Darkhawk searches desperately for answers. Goes to Saint Johnny, threatens to kill him, asks him again about the arm-ray-blaster; Saint Johnny denies knowing anything, Darkhawk gets no answers.
50 DAD Saturday Afternoon – Grace goes to the Tombs Prison to talk to Lennox about Savage Steel; she gets no answers. Darkhawk finds Louis McPhee on parole to find answers and discovers Bazin was arranging a flight to Althea Island with some cargo. [There is a mention of it being winter which coincides with previous December suggestion.]
50 DAD Saturday Day – Darkhawk holds up in some cargo and gets loaded on to Bazin’s plane. Once discovered, the battle within the plane causes it to go down, killing the five Bazin men. Darkhawk is now stranded on a Caribbean Island and Venom wants to kill him.
50 DAD Saturday Evening – Grace sees the Savage Steel armor getting moved away unlawfully; she follows the van and gets captured.
50 DAD Saturday Evening [Darkhawk #14] – Tombstone has a Hand member try to magically identify any more information about the amulet, Hand member feints after making contact with something. Grace is captured by the men who took the Savage Steel armor and discovers that they are cops from Mike’s team. Darkhawk continues to battle Venom, defeats him and moves onward in search of Bazin. Finds Mike Powell with Bazin, gets defeated and subdued by Lodestone. Mike tries to save Darkhawk and gets stabbed by Bazin. As Bazin lines up the shot to take out Darkhawk, Mike shots Bazin dead. Darkhhawk passes out.
51 DAD Sunday Day [Darkhawk #15] – Darkhawk comes to with militia around him to capture him and send him to the Vault. Bazin and Mike have washed out to see [in comics this means “just in case we need them again”]. Darkhawk escapes and hijacks a small plane to New York.
51 DAD Sunday Evening – Darkhawk gets to New York. Tombstone has taken the amulet to a psychic. The amulet calls out to Darkhawk and they reunite. Darkhawk defeats Tombstone and gets the amulet back. Still can’t change forms. Darkhawk goes to the hospital and Jon tells him the their mother is missing. [Jon mentions Chris being gone for two days; lines up with above sequence.]
51 DAD Sunday Night – Darkhawk finds Lennox in the Tomb Prison grounds; grappling hooks him to find out where Grace is, he tells Darkhawk The Cabal has here and where they are. Darkhawk seeks them down and helps free Grace. After reading father’s last journal entry, Darkhawk is able to change forms. Chris heads back to the hospital to be with family [No comment from Jon about his “flu” miraculously being gone within hours. Meh.]
52 DAD Monday Morning – Chris debates getting rid of Darkhawk amulet but concludes that he will never give it up. Darkhawk is here to stay as a weapon against crime!

Darkhawk Annual #1, Multiple Shorts
107 Sunday Night, [Darkhawk Annual #1, “Assault on Armor City, P1: Search”] – Darkhawk looks for leads on Savage Steel.
108 Monday Morning [Darkhawk Annual #1, “Assault on Armor City, P1: Search”] – Tony Stark is researching Savage Steel’s armor patent and in the meanwhile also sends a flying spy eye to research Darkhawk to find out if his armor is based on stolen Stark technology.
108 Monday Afternoon [Darkhawk Annual #1, “Assault on Armor City, P1: Search”] – Arthur Vale dons the Savage Steel armor—he is a mildly deranged man who failed at being a cop because he was too mentally unstable to be on the force. The Cabal made him the police van driver. He gets access to the suit and sets out to do the kind of cop work he believes in. Chris sees Ironman and Savage Steel battling out his classroom window and excuses himself to join the fight. Ironman turns on Darkhawk and keeps him busy while a scanning device analyses his armor.
116 Tuesday Night [Darkhawk Annual #1, “The Cabal!”] – Jim Zafar breaks out Arthur Vale and Harry Lennox from The Tombs Prison. They get killed in a driveby.
117 Wednesday Day [Darkhawk Annual #1, “The Cabal!”] – Turns out the FBI faked the driveby during their escape so that The Cabal can get off their trail. They plan to testify against them and go on the witness relocation program afterwards. [Note: This has to happen after Mike Powell’s funeral because Jim Zafar is there which suggests this hasn’t happened yet. This also has to come after the Ironman encounter with Savage Steel, which I just assume is what provoked Jim Zafar to stand against The Cabal in court.]
117 DAD Wednesday Afternoon, [Darkhawk Annual #1, “Deadly Foes of Darkhawk”] – Intern gig at RCK, a radio station while he reminisces on his enemies thus far. [Note: Mentions the Folding Circle which appeared in his teamup with the New Warriors, making this happen after those issues; does NOT mention the Peristrike Force which puts it before that event.]
- – = = * = = – -
118 DAD Thursday Morning – Peristrike Force is on the move towards Queens on a mission to capture a specialist in superhumans, Professor Vonya, who is speaking at Chris’s high school.
118 DAD Thursday Afternoon – Chris is playing basketball with friends and amulet hits one in the eye. Couch makes him remove it. Chris puts it in his locker for the time being. The Peristrike Force and agents set up for the assault and kidnapping mission on the school. Mrs Bauer stops Chris at the locker to remind him he’s got to cover the afternoon lecture for the high school station; Chris agrees but makes his way to the ball court first.
118 DAD Thursday Afternoon – School is out—lecture has begun. The Peristrike Force and agents move in and capture the Russian professor, Anatoly Vonya. Chris discovers the commotion and wants to help but doesn’t have the amulet. He uses his karate to subdue one of the guards on his way to his locker. He frantically tries to open his locker but can’t out of nerves. He gets captured by another guard at gun point who asks for him to open the locker and give him whatever he’s frantically trying to get.
118 DAD Thursday Afternoon [Darkhawk #17] – Chris is still nervous and can’t open the locker. The guard blasts it open and find a punny pocket knife… then the amulet. He thinks nothing of the amulet and throws it to the floor. He takes Chris at gun point to execute as an example. Chris karatees his way out of it again and races off to get the amulet, turn into Darkhawk and neutralize the agent. Darkhawk then takes on the Peristrike Force while the hostages escape. He defeats the Force but is neutralized by Psi-Wolf, a mind controlling Russian mutant leader of the Peristrike Force. [Note: Darkhawk makes a comedic exchange during the fight and mentions that he should stop “hanging out with Spedball so much” which suggests that the multi-part New Warrior’s arc happened before this event—that is why it is listed earlier.]
118 DAD Thursday Night [Darkhawk #18] – Darkhawk helps the Peristrike Force escape due to Psi-Wolf’s mind control. While in the escape chopper Darkhawk fights the mind control and falls out the open side. He can’t protect his fall, lands on a car, then turns into Chris and runs off to hide and think at home. Later in the night he sneaks off again to the airport to intercept the Force. He gets there and hijacks the airport food van as Chris. He smashed the mechanism that allows Psi-Wolf to mind control, changes back to Darkhawk when hidden and neutralizes the Peristrike Force. During the fight, Professor Vonya is frozen to death by Siberian.
118 DAD Thursday Night – Darkhawk flees when cops arrive and heads to the amusement park to ponder his purpose as Darkhawk since he let Vanya die while trying to save him.
AUGUST
143 DAD Monday Afternoon [Darkhawk #19] – Charles Little Sky has come for his old equipment and weapons that’s being protected and studies by Guardsman. Brotherhood of Evil Mutants want the portal technology that they believe is part of the Darkhawk armor. Darkhawk and Spider-man get involved to help Portal; Portal gets his gear back in the confusion and then helps Darkhawk and Spider-man out. Portal agrees to help Darkhawk learn more then all of them gets stopped by Sleepwalker who wants the armor as well. Mysterious ex-Darkhawk man has a voice in his head telling him to betray Chris Powell and capture him for the mysterious voice.
143 DAD Monday Night [Darkhawk #20] – Portal goes to see Thomas Fireheart, Puma, for help at his pent house. Guard catches him—part of the same tribe, Edgar Running Bear. Portal falls asleep. Spider-Man searches for a lead all night.
144 DAD Tuesday Morning – Darkhawk, Spider-Man and Sleepwalker get to Fireheart’s apartment; The pent house wall is blown open, Running Bear is dead and Portal is gone. Evil Mutants kidnapped and mind control Portal. He mistakenly takes them to Time Square during rush hour. Spider-Man, Darkhawk and Sleepwalker encounter them and have a brawl out. Spider-Man gets sent to another dimension, Sleepwalker chases the Evil Mutants and Portal through another gateway, Darkhawk is left cleaning up the mess Sauran started by trying to save a crowd of people from falling debris.
- – = = * = = – -
Sleepwalker #17 Appearance
144 DAD Tuesday Morning [Sleepwalker #17] – Darkhawk manages to get the debris out of harms way. Sleepwalker discovers Portal and the Evil Mutants’ location before Rick Sheridan wakes up, causing Sleepwalker to vanish. [Note: It is 7:00am when Rick wakes up; Chris has been at the radio station “since dawn” working on a “school project” when he gets called out for it being summer. This turns into a continuity issue here because in the Darkhawk issues there is evidence he’s still at school (playing basketball with a coach, being part of the radio club during the Peristrike Force attack). I’ve pushed this to the beginning of September so that perhaps Chris is “starting early”—like a week before school starts of something.]
144 DAD Tuesday Afternoon – Rick finds out from the Daily Bugle that Spider-Man, Darkhawk and Sleepwalker had a teamup the same morning in an “exclusive report”. He falls back asleep and Sleepwalker finds Darkhawk again and they team up to save Portal from the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. They defeat the Brotherhood and Portal offers an IOU in return. Sleepwalker could have taken it to get back to the Dreamscape but instead uses it to get Spider-Man out of the Dark Dimension.

New Warriors 4-Part “Darkling” Story Arc
300 DAD Thursday [New Warriors #32-#34, New Warriors Annual #3] – Darkness spreads across all of Manhattan bringing heroes out of the woodwork! A couple Avengers, couple Fantastic Four, New Warriors, Spider-Man, Darkhawk and more! It seems an insane mutant who can tap the Darkforce dimension has gone even more insane and spread his influence is a way that allowed the darkness to take over other darkforce-powered supers or those with anger or rage inside them. Doctor Strange tries to control the mutant but he freaks out and makes himself known to all the heroes in a climactic encounter. Eventually Firestar lays it on superflare-like and banishes the darkness long enough for Doctor Strange to show Darkling that “light” still existed in the city in the form or love, courage, sacrifice, etc. Henrique Manuel Gallante gathers the city’s darkness gook and takes off with it willing to learn to control it for the better. [Note: Firestar has her new costume, Darkhawk can’t fly yet. Why Thursday? Because Nova went to the movies—assuming it’s opening night.]

They neutralize them and Dreadlox appears to take them in.

365 DAD Saturday Morning [Avengers West Coast #93] – Spider-Woman booked Darkhawk a flight over to the west coast—they had kept in touch after the events in the “Armor City”. With Ironman inactive and Wonder Man gone she figured the WC Avengers would need the power of Darkhawk in the events ahead. The headquarters gets attacked by Klaw and Zvezda Dennista (Morning Star) who have come to take back the traitor Kuroko to Doctor Dominicus. USAgent, Goliath and Mocking Bird go take out some Battledroids on their way to get another Ironman suit to help in the fight (possibly War Machine).
365 DAD Saturday Day [Avengers West Coast #94] – War Machine joins the WC Avengers. Darkhawk becomes a “Reservist member”. They head off to Dominica to retrieve the hostage aircraft and Kuroko. Slug fest happens, Avengers are defeated, they keep Mocking Bird and USAgent as hostages; rest return to Hawaii to refuel. Doctor Dominicus summons Raksasa, the demon whom he now worships and Mocking Bird and USAgent escape their bonds and start another slugfest. Over in Hawaii the other members are about to defend against a swarm of flying piranha demon things sent by Dominucus. [Note: Darkhawk tells War Machine that “he’s more of a glider than a flyer—this puts the WCA event before the New Warriors appearance in issue 27-29 where he is able to fly]
365 DAD Saturday Day [Avengers West Coast #95] – Darkhawk helps War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Goliath and Spider-Woman keep the flying piranha demons away from Honolulu; USAgent and Mocking Bird escape their restraints. USAgent and Morning Star discuss a teamup against the same enemy. They bring down Doctor Demonicus and the demon Raksasa. During the fight USAgent sticks Klaw’s soundwave hand into the ground. This causes the island to sink into the Pacific once again.

MAY
392 DAD Wednesday Morning [Darkhawk #21] – Darkhawk takes out some armoured car robbers. He heads home to take the family to the cemetery. Gets a major headache as Darkhawk; he changes to Chris to relieve it. He gets home and the family goes to the cemetery to pay respects to Mike Powell. Family leaves, he stays longer. Allegra Bazin shows up, they get shot at, Chris saves her, they show some awkward chemistry, her body guards take her away. [Note: The crazy jump in months occurs here because by Annual 2 and issue 31 Savage Steel comes back into the picture a year after the Armor City story line of Annual 1; I also had to keep in mind Allegra Bazin;s Spring Fashion Festival that pops up later].
392 DAD Wednesday Afternoon – Chris gets home, Cheryl is there. She convinces him to rest and spend time together for once—then he calls her “Allegra”… congratulations dumbass… she leaves unhappy (duh).
392 DAD Wednesday Night – Chris heads back to the cemetery for clues about the shooting. He discovers two men digging up Bazin’s grave. Mr Steven’s was Bazin’s Occult Expert. He noticed an item of power in Bazin’s collection but didn’t say anything—then the item was buried in his coffin. One the coffin is dug up and the item gained he turns on Lonny the gravedigger to kill him. Darkhawk intercedes. Stevens grabs an item and turns into a monstrosity out oh Cthulhu—Darkhawk gets thrown around like a puppet and it bites Lonny’s head off.
392 DAD Wednesday Night [Darkhawk #22] – Ghost Rider appears at the cemetery because innocent blood was spilled (Lonny). Him and Darkhawk fight the monster but Darkhawk gets the headache pains again and has to bail back to Chris form. The monster gets away, Ghost Rider goes after it. Chris heads to RCK to clear his mind and finds out Ghost Rider has the monster again in a crowded area. He takes off as Darkhawk again after it. Saint Johnny and the ex-Darkhawk debate at the abandoned amusement park about breaking their promise to protect Chris because they are getting the headaches as well. Ghost Rider and Darkhawk defeat the monster by ripping the amulet out of a wound. Ghost Rider leaves when the cops show up and the magical piece gets picked up by a mysterious person before Darkhawk can pick it up. Darkhawk leaves as well before the headaches begin. He gets the headache and reverts to Chris and heads to the amusement park to find Saint Johnny. He threatens him in order to learn the secrets of the Darkhawk, Chris gets the headache and can’t shift to Darkhawk. Saint Johnny takes the amulet and turns into a techno-organic killing machine.
392 DAD Wednesday Night [Darkhawk #23] – Saint Johnny continues to try to subdue Chris in order to perform a “mind-death” on him. At his highschool, it’s club night: his radio club kicks him out for not participating; the current events club makes it their mission to unmask Darkhawk since they see him as a menace; Cheryl cries in the photo darkroom about being called Allegra and how their relationship is falling apart; Allegra is drawing Chris’s face to remind herself how cute he is; and his principal is considering suspending Chris for lack of attendance. Code Blue, a special NYPD force come on the amusement park battle field to neutralize Johnny; in the heat of battle Chris manages to get the amulet back. Saint Johnny continues to get orders from a telepathic Darkhawk in space to preserve Chris’s body and protect the amulet. Arthur Vale, previously Savage Steel, knocks out the FBI agent on watch in the safe house in order to go fight crime again; he flubs up and gets captured by the goons who want to return Vale to someone who will pay good money to find out he still alive. Darkhawk jams a girder through Johnny finally neutralizing him. Code Blue want Darkhawk to come in for questioning and Darkhawk gets a headache and hears the other Darkhawk’s voice telling him that he is near. [Note: Club Night suggests summer is over and school has started once again. I’m also going to assume that if Chris’s attendance is already bad enough to get suspended that he’s missed at least 16 classes (that’s what it was back in my day) so lets push this timeline to October.]
392 DAD Wednesday Night [Darkhawk #24] – A ship materializes out of Darkhawk’s amulet; Evilhawk emerges from the spacecraft claiming Darkhawk as his prey, who is now prepared for mind-death. Jason sneaks off with a bat to go help Chris. The current event club finds out about the amusement park fight and races off to it; Headset overhears and does the same. Cheryl calls Allegra to confront her about whether there’s something going on between them; Allegra replies “chemistry”. Arthur Vale gets the crap kicked out of him by goons who get the truth about the faked mob hit on the three Cabal members who testified against them; Vale won’t say where the other two are located though. Darkhawk gets captured as Evilhawk easily avoids Code Blue attacks as well. Evilhawk fly his ship towards space. Darkhawk manages to escape, blow a hole through the ships floor and dive through. Evilhawk follows but can fly. They eventually land and Darkhawk gets captured again, takes off his helmet for a brief turn of the tides, then gets disintegrated by Evilhawk’s force blast.
392 DAD Wednesday Night [Darkhawk #25] – Chris ends up waking up on a ship then attacked by it’s defence systems. They eventually stop as a consciousness regains control of the ship—a living ship. The ship goes on to tell the origin of the Darkhawk armors: That Dargin Bokk, Evilhawk, is an intergalactic crimelord who financed the creation of the Darkhawk armors for his own purposes. The scientists involved wished to stop his efforts and took the Darkhawk forms to defeat Dargin Bokk. During the fight the Evilhawk armor was gained by Dargin Bokk. During an explosion Bokk’s real body was destroyed thus trapping him in the Evilhawk armor, two other Darkhawks were destroyed, and another was destroyed during a body swap and became the ships consciousness. Two used teleportation technology to send their minds away to Earth where they took the inhabited the minds of two scientists researching the dimension of Null Space: Ned Dobbs was possessed by Byron, John Thrane by Mondu. The two scientists re-created one of the amulets to protect themselves from Evilhawk or possibly use it to defeat him; they even tried to contact other hero groups but just sounded crazy because of their fragmented minds; they resolved to hide it in the amusement park. Evilhawk shots Saint Johnny (Mondu) with the techno-organic virus which is why he can take mechanical forms and interface with Evilhawk’s telepathic capabilities. Evilhawk commences with the mind-death on Chris but Chris wills himself through the pain and grabs the amulet, turning into Darkhawk. Evilhawk goes to disintegrate Chris’s body, but Darkhawk reflect the ray back at Evilhawk disintegrating him instead. Chris now has two amulets and uses Ocsh the ship to teleport back home.
393 DAD Thursday Morning [Darkhawk #26] – Chris and Grace are at the high school; Chris is being suspended for a week. Chris loses his temper and rushes off.
393 DAD Thursday Afternoon – The family is staying at a cheap hotel until insurance clears the house fire from the amusement park battle with techno-organic Saint Johnny. Grace suggests counselling; Chris refuses and rushes off. [Note: Jan, his photo taking click happy friend makes a comment about it being 1993… we’re going to ignore that…]
393 DAD Thursday Evening – Darkhawk seeks out the New Warriors in order to talk to someone who can relate to him and provide some guidance. They get attacked by the people who created the turning point in their lives. Darkhawk is attacked by the goon who killed himself when he attacked Darkhawk during his first fight. Zarrko the Tomorrow Man offers Darkhawk and the New Warriors a chance to change that moment in their past.
393 DAD Thursday Evening [Darkhawk #26, Beyond the Law] – Arthur Vale gives up the location of the safe house. The Cabal goes to take out Zafar, Leone and Lennox. Vale gets out of the slipknot and takes out the guy who’s about to kill him—he’s on another insane mission to redeem himself.
393 DAD Thursday Evening [Darkhawk #27, A Tale of the Cabal] – The Cabal takes out the safe house FBI guards and capture Zafar, Leone and Lennox. Vale is outside and ready to take out some Cabal but gets clipped by an officer who was trained by Mike Powell. The cops move in but The Cabal shoots the side of a building with a high tech gun causing debris to block the cars and then get away. The four FBI-protected ex-Cabal are now known by the public to be alive.
393 DAD Thursday Night [Darkhawk #27] – Zarrko leaves in his Time Cube to let the heroes think it over for 24 hours.
394 DAD Friday Morning – Chris gets home. Family stress. Darkhawk and Warriors ponder the chance to correct things of the past.
394 DAD Friday Evening – Chris throws a dinner party for his family and friends in case he dies during Zarrko’s offer. [Note: Again there is a reference to 1993—Vintage 1993 Diet Cola… we’re going to ignore that…]
394 DAD Friday Night (Actually past 2am) – Chris walks Cheryl to the bus stop and it’s confirmed they are no longer dating, just friends. He gets a bit of sleep and heads out of the hotel to meet the Warriors and Zarrko. His mom questions him, he tells her not to worry, that he’s doing nothing bad or illegal. She doesn’t believe him. Jason wants to make Chris pay for making their mom cry all the time. Darkhawk runs into a gang fight and stops one side, Spider-Man appears to stop the other. A discussion about choice comes up, Spider-Man says he thinks all the time about going back to stop a certain shooting from happening (uncle). This makes Darkhawk’s mind up to take Zarrko’s offer even though Spider-Man then thinks to himself that he knows better than to play with time.
394 Saturday Morning [Darkhawk #28] – Zarkko teleports Darkhawk and The New Warriors to Chronopolis to defeat Kang’s partner, Ravonna. Darkhawk ends up in a 2099-like Marvel Universe where people know who Darkhawk is and his human form—the call him The Powell, respect and fear him. Each hero’s energies are powering Zarkko’s “Time Bomb” which he plans to use on Chonopolis and take over all time.

Ocsh fights him but seems to be losing the fight and it seems one day Evilhawk will be back. Note: I placed this event here because Jason still seems angry with Chris’s misbehaviour that makes their mom cry all the time.

He discovers that a helicopter saved them both and that they still have vital signs. Darkhawk is brought back to the Time Cube before he can find out more and the planted bomb bluff works again on Zarkko. Darkhawk and the Warriors are taken to The Time Bomb and Darkhawk destroys it with a chest blast. They are all taken back to present time. Chris meets up with his family and promises to put them first going forward. Allegra Bazin gets a call from a mysterious person asking about Bazin’s collection of magical artefacts.

The magical talisman from issue #23 surfaced as it was taken by a guy named Chester. He wanted to sell it for more than 3 grand (all a man named Alex Tennyson had left after a divorce). Alex took the item and killed Chester with it. He did occult studies and tests and ended up creating a being called Dreamkiller—the newest Darkhawk villain.
396 DAD Monday Morning [Darkhawk Annual #2, “Dreamkiller”] – Chris gets dropped off at “Mushroom”, the magical shop Tombstone trashed while searching for Darkhawk in issue #10. He gets there at sunrise and it opens in two hours. He runs into Alex there as Darkhawk and a brawl in Central Park ensues. They get tear gassed by NYPD and Dreamkiller grabs Alex and takes off.

It gets snatched up by a vigilante who pays 10 grand for it. It is Jim Zafar. [Supposed to happen a year after Armor City story arc from Annual #2… this is actually 10 months later (no other way to make other events line up effectively, so this is close enough)].

Darkhawk cuts the encounter with Allegra short telling her she needs to contact the police as he hears word of another ‘Cude strike and takes off as Darkhawk after it.
410 DAD Monday Afternoon [Darkhawk #34] – Broderick convinces Jason to throw a brick through a shop window; Jason enjoys it.
410 DAD Monday Evening – Chris uses microfilm to research more about connection between ‘Cuda and past Harbor incidents. [Note: Yes… MICROFILM… a year before institutional internet here folks!] Chris reads a Bugle story about scientist Stuart Sarris who developed technology that could successfully hide pollution better. He disagreed with his company’s misuse of his research and he was poisoned by his pollution control chemicals.
410 DAD Monday Night – Grace confront Allegra at the Bazin estate to learn about their mother’s death; turns out Broderick killed her and Allegra’s been covering up the ordeal. Darkhawk defeats ‘Cuda and gives him to the cops, but feels bad considering it was a guy who was just trying to survive in the polluted waters his chemical makeup needed to live in. Mike Powell is alive but in a coma looked over by a mysterious person. Grace brings Allegra over, Jon says he doesn’t know where Jason is but that his buddy at school said he left with someone in a Porsche—dun, dun, dun, Broderick is standing over the knifed body of a kid.
410 DAD Monday Night [Darkhawk #35] – Broderick gets called back by Jason in the park—the dead person is a rando whom he got the urge to kill. Broderick tells Jason it’s time for the next level of lessons for revenge. [Note: Broderick is cleaning his blade with a Bugle paper page with a report about Darkhawk capturing ‘Cuda—this is outright impossible since it JUST HAPPENED! In any case, the Daily Bugle must have been precognitively sitting on the inevitable defeat of ‘Cuda and printed this about an hour ago. Right? Right.] Mike Powell has been faking life for days waiting for his chance to escape. He makes it to the phone and calls home but passes out again. He is in San Francisco. Broderick takes Jason to kill Chris—Grace and Allegra get to the scene. Jason turns gun to Broderick saying that he saw him kill the guy in the park but has been faking friendship. Fight breaks out, Chris beats Broderick unconscious after raging out. Police take the Bazins away. Powells hear message on answering machine, Chris says he can get help since Grace is afraid The Cabal will interfere if she calls the police. Darkhawk flies to San Francisco.
410 DAD Monday Night – Venom is trashing goons looking for information about a group that is after him to either capture or kill him. It is connected to the people holding Mike Powell captive. Darkhawk gets to the west coast in about two hours after breaking once to switch forms and recharge. The two get into the standard scuffle before they are neutralized by the new Seekers
410 DAD Monday Night [Darkhawk #36] – Darkhawk helps Venom escape the Seekers.
410 DAD Monday Night – Mike is strapped down in a hidden location. Louis Cale is his captor; the leading financial founder of The Cabal and Savage Steel. Cale is interested in getting names of the betrayers from Mike as well as synthesizing the Venom symbiote.

Darkhawk and Venom are still fighting on the west coast. Venom defeats Darkhawk. Darkhawk tries to switch bodies to heal, he can’t. Seekers capture Venom. Chris finally is able to swap bodies and opts to seek out Venom before his father because it’s for the greater good. Saves Venom again from the Seekers—Venom offers a teamup again—Darkhawk refuses—fight continues in next issue… sigh.
410 DAD Monday Night [Darkhawk #37] – Venom subdues Darkhawk instead as thanks and flees. Chris struggles again to switch forms but eventually does; he has a foreign alien paper in his coat pocket telling him not to use the amulet anymore—that he can no longer be protected. Grace leaves kids with neighbours and is on flight to San Francisco. Saint Johnny’s techo-organic form breaches Avenger Mansion defences and quickly dispatches Captain America to retrieve the Evilhawk amulet. Saint Johnny teleports with the amulet. Chris debates the danger of the note but switches back to Darkhawk to continue the search for his father.
410 DAD Monday Night – Darkhawk gets to the house Mike was in when he made the call, trashes two goons for info on his father’s new location, gets it. Venom follows Darkhawk’s lead. Seekers try to stop Darkhawk, Venom slips away before notice to smash into the new hideout. Darkhawk neutralizes the Seekers and heads to hideout and takes out Venom. Cale uses the leverage to take Mike as a hostage, then FBI agent, Robin Gillespie takes out Cale. Grace is with her, she reconnects with Mike. Venom escapes in all the drama. Saint Johnny teleports back to Earth to ask for Darkhawk to come back with him; it seems Evilhawk is trying to take over Ocsh, the Darkhawk ship in Null Space, and Saint Johnny had a chance to slip past Evilhawk’s control temporarily. Darkhawk agrees to leave with him in order to save the multiverse.
410 DAD Monday Night [Darkhawk #38] – Darkhawk ends up in Null Space on the Darkhawk Ship controlled by Ocsh. Ocsh manages to send Chris Powell’s body back to Earth while keeping Darkhawk in Null Space—both with the same—but separate consciousnesses. [Note: Both have a 72 hour timeframe before they (possibly) die] Ocsh explains how all six Darkhawk amulets need to come together before they decay Null Space and eventually the multiverse. Evilhawk’s consciousness tries to take over Saint Johnny’s techno-organic form to control the ship. Darkhawk tries to stop him from stealing all the databanks of knowledge and power and in turn takes an energy feedback himself granting him a new Darkhawk body with new improved powers. The side of the ship blows up and Darkhawk gets sent into space.
411 DAD Tuesday Day [Darkhawk #39] – Mike Powell and Grace come home, the Powells go see Staten Island. Chris confirms that he’s officially dropped out of high school to his dad. In Null Space Darkhawk collects the first amulet and gets telepathically contacted by Evilhawk who suggests that Ocsh is the true threat. Ned on Earth contacts Chris to say the same.
412 DAD Wednesday Day [Darkhawk #40] – The Powell home is being rebuilt. Darkhawk gets the third amulet off of a quaked planet and returns to the ship exhausted—he discovers he can create a darkforce filled body shield shaped like a hawk with his new powers. Chris agrees to help Ned, calls the station to say he’s got a flu and that his tape editing project will be delayed; the new intern agrees to pass on the word but really means to “forget” so that Chris loses his job, and she gets it in June [Note: When she graduates… this is a placeholder to aim for later]. Darkhawk gets the fourth amulet off a planet that believes it to be a gift from the gods—it is a copy of Darkhawk’s original amulet. Ocsh traps Darkhawk’s body and rips his amulet from his chest to add to the others. The last amulet is that of Ocsh’s form which was hidden on the ship.
412 DAD Wednesday Night [Darkhawk #41] – The amulets are joined to heal, then to be destroyed by Ocsh. Darkhawk commits to stopping his own death considering Ocsh’s methods irrational. Evilhawk rematerialized. Ned uses his technological knowhow to re-wire a World Trade Center antennae to teleport him and Chris to the Ocsh ship. Darkhawk creates a massive dark hawk form and blows up the ship. Ocsh with the power of the amulets puts it back together after stopping Evilhawk. He is willing to discuss alternatives. Chris, Saint Johnny and Ned are brought onboard as well. The strain of the techno-virus finally overwhelms Johnny and he dies. Evilhawk tries to absorb all the amulets’ power and destroys Ocsh’s consciousness. Darkhawk jumps into the stasis field to stop Evilhawk and ends up absorbing all the energies included Evilhawk’s. He feels like a god and gets tempted with the Curse of the Darkhawk—Chris talks him out of it. Darkhawk restores the amulets then destroys them. Ned will stay behind to care for the ship and both Darkhawk and Chris are separate entities.
412 DAD Wednesday Night [Darkhawk #42] – Darkhawk learns that he can summon a healing pod now that there is no body swap—it takes longer to heal though. A party is thrown at the Powell residence for Mike’s return. [Note: Darkhawk waits outside and overhears on a passing radio that Dreamkiller has resurfaced “after laying low for a year” and is calling out for Darkhawk. I have a sinking feeling that this is going to be the ultimate continuity atomic bomb right here folks… see, there is NO way a year could have passed since Annual #2. This has to be blatantly ignored in order to continue.]
412 DAD Wednesday Night [Darkhawk #42, “The Shaper of Things to Come”] – Barton Ford, a sculpture… and a murderer… sculpts metal figures depicting the fear they displayed before he killed them. He uses a strange metal that explodes and gives him the power to shape metal—and incidentally kill humans with his touch. His buddy was one of the goons arrested in the heist earlier in the morning and he’s got it out for Darkhawk now.

Soon Damek realises the homicidal and dishonourable tendencies in his ancestor and helps Darkhawk recapture him. This causes Damek to refuse to go back to the future and is now stuck in the past. 414 DAD Friday Evening [Darkhawk #44] – Portal still holding his own against Shaper—barely. Chris sees a weakness on tv and leaves to help. In Null Space, Ned Dobbs has possibly found a way to help the stranded alien, Kistur. The cloaked ship still approaches in Null Space. Portal finally defeats Shaper; Chris tries to help but nearly gets them both killed.
415 DAD Saturday Morning – Chris moves out officially with the help of his roommates. Grace takes the promotion job to make up for the families reduced income. Mike over hears and makes a mysterious call that commits him to something mysterious (like this was a good idea the first time, right?).
416 DAD Sunday Night [Darkhawk #45] – A race called Mahari storm the Darkhawk ship to get Kistur back and kill all those inside. Portal saves a rich guy from getting kidnapped and offered 50 thousand dollars; Portal doesn’t accept it.
417 DAD Monday Morning – Chris starts school. Makes a date plan for the evening with radio station intern, Laura. [Note: Chris thinks about “yesterday” in reference to the Potal/Shaper fight… which is impossible to have occurred on a Sunday. This continuity blip has to be ignored or properly assumed to be about Portal being on the news concerning the kidnapping event.] Grace starts her new job. Mike begins his mysterious “job”.
417 DAD Monday Day – Portal teleports back to his home in the west but is rejected by his mother. The Mahari storm the ship and subdue Ned. Portals young sisters let him in and he speaks to the shaman shortly about coming back to the tribe. Chris tries to call the New Warriors to help him find Darkhawk but Nova doesn’t believe he used to be Darkhawk and hangs up on him. [Note: Chris mentions helping the New Warriors against Sphinx and Rhino “the other day”]. Darkhawk is stranded on a planet requiring healing crystals.
417 DAD Monday Evening [Darkhawk #46] – Ned is still getting interrogated, Darkhawk finally gets through telepathically requesting help. Message gets diverted to Portal who needs to get more healing crystal for Darkhawk. Chris is at Coney Island with Laura and tells her that he used to be Darkhawk. Mike Powell is at Harry Lennox’s Private Investigations office in talk about joining his private eye business. Portal gets the healing crystals to heal Darkhawk but gets shot in the process. He then passes out a while, Darkhawk bandages him up; Portal leaves as soon as he wakes up to stop the Mahari and save Ned; he gets shot unconscious almost immediately due to his weakened state.
417 DAD Monday Evening [Darkhawk #47] – We get the reason why Darkhawk went missing. [Note: He states that he helped the New Warriors with Sphinx (#48-50) and Nova (#10) with Rhino right before meeting Chris.] Darkhawk’s system was overloading due to the new armor upgrade, Portal agrees to help in return for help against the Mahari who are after him. Portal surprisingly knows how to get to the Darkhawk ship. They learn of the crystal healing theory from Ned. Darkhawk then uses the last-resort-teleportation device left with him to attempt a rescue mission on the Darkhawk ship. They all flee but the Mahari learn Portal’s teleportation algorythim and reprogram the ship to send them to Earth after them all. Mike is about to get double crossed by Harry. Grace is blackmailed to have to give someone in the DA a bribe.
417 DAD Monday Evening [Darkhawk #48] – Darkhawk, Portal and Ned stop the four Mahari invaders. Cag and the Mahari on the Darkhawk ship make two Darkhawk armor duplicates and use technology to merge them with Kistur’s consciousness. At school, Chris’s old friends wonder about him [Note: Another baffling continuity blunder. Headset says Chris “ignored him the other day” when in fact it HAD to be that same morning. It seems near the end of the series Danny Fingeroth was either being rushed or being clumbsy—there have been a couple silly mistakes that could/should have been noticed easily. Ignored.] It seems Dean Coburn, a student that has been trying to make buddy-buddy with Chris today has something is store for the Powells by planting something in Chris’s locker. Harry and Mike get ambushed, Harry gets killed, Mike put unconscious. Grace gets caught on film bribing the DA. The twins get abducted. Overhawk comes to Earth to the New Mexico reservation where Portal’s family is right after Portal leaves to check on New York.
417 DAD Monday Evening [Darkhawk #49] – Overhawk kicks Darkhawk’s ass. A new group of Mahari teleport down and save the captive ones. Mike was set up for Harry’s murder and is arrested. Grace is arrested. A man named Norbert Newland seems to be behind it all. Dean Coburn is Albert Coburn’s son, Albert was arrested by Mike and died in jail an innocent man, and has the twins at a graveyard. Security discovers an empty wallet in Chris’s locker which frames him, the Principle will be calling the police to arrest Chris. The Mahari find a way to teleport the entire Darkhawk ship to New York.
417 DAD Monday Evening [Darkhawk #50] – Alegra seems behind all the Powell troubles. Savage Steel gets geared up to help. Damek the Earthshaker hears the news on the radio and takes off to the scene. Spider-Man, Nova and Speedball (from the miniseries teamup “Friends and Foes” come to the scene. Darkhawk creates a force field around all the enemies and Portal, Portal opens a gateway, Darkhawk projects them into another dimension. Overhawk teleports out of the dimension after the rest are defeated. Overhawk overhears the Mahari talk about never considering giving him his body back because it was destroyed in the creation of Overhawk—Overhawk kills them all. The ship is set to Death-Mode which is killing the inhabitants of Earth. Overhawk gets destroyed in one of the ships ray beams. Chris and Darkhawk are needed to neutralize the ships beams with simultaneous control operations. The radiation of the ship controls joins Chris and Darkhawk into one form again that can change at will—no longer android but a living being.
417 DAD Monday Night – Chris then visits his parents at the police station and finds out his brothers are missing—he transforms into Darkhawk ties up all the loose strings, saves everyone, makes everyone plea guilty or turn themselves in, family is happy again, even the future Chronopolis is happy about “the greatest hero of the era—The Powell” and the series comes to an end… for now.
